Dr. Arely R. Tamez, Principal

Dr. Arely R. Tamez proudly serves as the principal of Vernon Middle School, where she leads with passion and dedication. With over 23 years of experience in education, she has served as a middle school teacher, assistant principal, and coordinator of Federal Programs, all within the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District.

Dr. Tamez firmly believes that every student can learn when provided with a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment enriched by high-quality instruction from caring and dedicated educators. She emphasizes developing well-rounded students who excel in the 3 A’s- Academics, Arts, and Athletics- and takes great pride in fostering a culture of excellence in each.

As both a proud HCISD parent and employee, Dr. Tamez enjoys attending her students’ events and celebrating their successes. Outside of school, she treasures time spent with her daughter, husband, parents and family.  One of her guiding philosophies is captured in her favorite quote:
